Description

This was made for ~darknight-sky through the art exchange group #Artcrossing

A pre-made plain white 'craft mask' that I cut down to the shape and size I wanted. I was going to do a papermache one, but this one is very sturdy :) ( and less messy ;) not by much, but still)

I cut and glued in some craft foam sheet, then sealed it and spray painted several coatings of 'beaten copper'. Once that was done, I added a few touches of black faintly to little spots then added some 'patina'.

Then it sat on my desk for a month as I argued with myself over how to finish it. I'd come up with several ideas, but couldn't make myself choose one. Finally this one won... it was supposed to have peacock feathers, however I seem to have misplaced them and can't find them ANYWHERE ... they went into hiding along with the glue I wanted >.< It was also supposed to have more jewels, however once I got these ones glued on...I no longer liked how they looked, so I stopped >.< lol

I arrived on your page through the Artcrossing's group's page.

Let's start with this mask. I love your choice of colours: the copper has a metallic feeling which blends well with the colours of the feathers. I love the small jewels on the mask's forehead - and perhaps you were right in stopping with just them, too many jewels would have ruined the whole mask.
Your choice of adding pieces of foam sheet under the coating is quite a nice one: it adds a tridimensional feeling which enhances the whole mask.

A very nice job.
